Description
In this theatre class, students will have the opportunity to perform, write, direct, and create collaborative scripts and stories. In this class students will build their skills in improvisation, memorization, and physical realization of a character. Students should have a willingness to take risks and explore storytelling. They should be good at communicating with others. Depending on the shows that are selected students may learn accents, make-up techniques and learn ho to design for the theatre. Students will learn the language of theatre arts and the stage direction terms. Students will learn about a variety of professions in the theatre. The main objective will be to perform a live performance for an audience which will require that they attend a week of after school rehearsals. The dates and times will be given at the beginning of the school year. A second performance (staged reading, a podcast, a filmed one act, or other short show) will happen at the end of the year but this event will be an original script and will be rehearsed and performed during their class time and no after school rehearsals will be required. The fee will cover the main costume needs for the show although there will be some pieces that are needed from home. This is a course for those who can work well with others and collaborate.
